The RM-1 family of devices provides ad-hoc mesh data networking capabilities for austere environments. Designed and built in America, this Meshtastic radio is ready to perform in the most challenging conditions. 

Purpose-built specifically for the needs of first responders, remote/austere workers, utility workers, and concerned citizens, the RM-1 delivers robust connectivity when you need it most.


The RM-1 Family of radios is proudly designed and built in Tennessee. Tested and proven during the recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene, these radios established a track record as an invaluable asset to bridge communication gaps left by the destruction. 

 

Fitting snug in a standard radio pouch, the RM-1 integrates with standard military and emergency responder gear. The all-aluminum housings of the RM-1 radios ensure extreme protection of the internal components in the most austere of environments. A large battery and optimized antenna for Meshtastic ensure maximum range and battery life in the field.

 

The RM-1 uses the Meshtastic protocol for license-free encrypted messaging and data. This means they will inter-operate with any meshtastic nodes in your area, boosting their range and capability. Community-supported ATAK plugins extend this radio's capability to emergency and tactical roles. 

 

The RM-1 comes in two variants:

Each of the RM-1 variants is based on a common rugged housing, battery system, and base radio support options.

Portable:

This variant is designed to be worn or carried by individuals in the field. The ruggedized aluminum housing and IP67 ingress protection ensure the unit's survivability even in the most demanding conditions. Its large 10,000mAH battery can keep a unit running for as long as 8-10 days in the field between charges. 

 

Infrastructure:

This variant is designed to be mounted as a repeater. It includes mounting brackets and a solar panel - ideal for quick deployment with minimal maintenance. It retains the portable's large battery and high transmit power, but combined with the solar panel, it can run indefinitely in the field without the need to manually charge it - depending on conditions.

Note: IP-67 and MIL-STD-810H certifications for the RM-1 are pending. Testing is anticipated for completion in early 2025, but these certifications are not yet finalized. Product specifications are subject to modification pending final certification outcomes.
