Learning to fly FPV can be hard, so save time and money on crashing a real drone, and instead, learn to fly in a simulator!
The fastest and easiest way to learn to fly is by signing up for a class with 2nd Order Effects - but the next best thing is training at home on a sim. We'd recommend you actually spend a few hours in a sim at home before attending a training, just so you can get the most out of the class - but you can go in totally blind because the first thing 2OE does in class is start you out in a simulator. Here are some tips to get started:
Most Popular Sims:
- Liftoff is what we recommend first. It's available both from the developer's site and from Steam.
- Uncrashed is also great. In our experience, it doesn't run as well on laptops, but is a solid way to get started.
- FPV Kamikaze Drone is another popular simulator with a PVP aspect to it. This game is developed by a team in Russia so we can't really recommend it, but it is very popular and you will see it on social media often.
Controller:
- All of the drone courses we offer come with controllers, so if you're planning to attend, and already have a console for gaming, consider using an Xbox or PlayStation controller you can use on your computer.
- The game Controller won't work as well as an actual drone controller (we go over why in the video below) but we're always looking to save you some money here.
- If you want to go ahead and get a drone controller - check out the RadioMaster Pocket or RadioMaster Zorro.
